About B.J.B. Autonomous College
Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Autonomous College, Bhubaneswar, is established y Government of Odisha in 1957. This college is named after the great freedom fighter Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Bhramarabara Ray Mahapatra, whose statue was installed in front of Administrative Block in 1974. The College which shifted to its present campus since 1962 was affiliated to Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar. With its constant evolution, it achieved a milestone in the form of being converted to an Autonomous College in 1999 after conferment of autonomous status by UGC from the academic session 1999-2000. Founded with the mission to impart quality education through academic cultural and physical activities, this co-educational HEI is one of the premier colleges of Odisha. Being the embodiment of quality, excellence and leadership, B.J.B Autonomous College continuously strives for ensuring holistic development of the students. A long list of its distinguished alumni creates a sense of pride in the minds of students and staff. The college is functioning on its own area of 21.23 acres of land.
college which offers UG and PG Courses on regular and self-financing mode was accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC in 2004 and 2016 in two cycles. Since its establishment, it has continually expanded its infrastructural facilities which include major buildings like Administrative Block, Science Block and New Arts Block. The college which is located in the heart of the capital of city of Odisha is well connected by roads to railway station], bus stand and airport. The college also houses study centres of Indira Gandhi National Open University and Odisha State Open University, a big play ground, hostels for boys and girls, a branch of State Bank of India etc. The college provides co-education and multi-faculty teaching facility in Arts, Commerce and Science streams. The cut-off marks for admission into all streams is highest in the state of Odisha. The College takes pride in being a differently -abled friendly campus with new ramps and lifts added to the buildings.
